from the forest (Pinaceae)
2021
The pine family (Pinaceae) includes not only the spruce (Picea) – widely cultivated in monoculture in the Black Forest – but also the fir (Abies), larch (Larix), Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga), and pine (Pinus).
Through the clear and austere presentation in five stainless steel frames enclosed in glass, a technical-botanical installation emerges that recalls natural science research. The five Pinaceae species native to the Black Forest are arranged within the frames according to crown density and installed on the façade of a remote Black Forest farmhouse.
